Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and it is natural to have questions before you begin. Below are answers to the things people most often want to know — from what to bring to a session, to the approach used, to session length, rates, and confidentiality. If anything here is unclear, or if your question is not listed, you are welcome to reach out directly.
You can bring anything that is weighing on you — anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma, life transitions, or simply a sense that something feels stuck. Counselling is a space to explore your experiences at your own pace, without judgement, and to build insight, resilience, and self-compassion. There is no concern too small or too heavy to bring to a session.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults across individual sessions. My practice is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, and I aim to meet each person with empathy, curiosity, and respect for their identity, story, and lived experience. Sessions are offered online and in person, so you can choose the format that feels safest and most practical for you.
My work draws primarily on psychodynamic therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), tailored to your unique needs. Psychodynamic therapy helps us understand how past experiences shape present patterns, while DBT offers practical skills for managing emotions, relationships, and distress. Together we find the balance of reflection and tools that fits you.
Standard sessions run 60 minutes, with an extended 90-minute option available when deeper work feels helpful. Cash rates are R1,200 for 60 minutes and R1,850 for 90 minutes. I also bill medical aid directly where applicable, with any administrative shortfall discussed openly before we begin.
Yes. Confidentiality is the foundation of ethical psychological practice. What you share in session is held privately, with the narrow exceptions required by law and professional ethics — for example, where there is risk of serious harm. These limits are explained clearly so you always know where you stand.
Use the booking section on the home page to see live availability and reserve a time that works for you. You can choose between online and in-person sessions and between 60- and 90-minute durations. If you have questions before booking, you are welcome to reach out by phone or email.
